How Front Door works

Front Door is an independent service. It helps you find help from the state and from groups near you, apply with one set of answers, and keep track of what agencies send back. It is built to work alongside WA.gov, where you find state services and sign in to state accounts.
  1. Check what fits

Answer a few questions. We compare your answers with each program's rules and show what may fit and why. Each agency makes the final decision.

  2. Apply to several programs with one set of answers

Each program gets only the questions it asks. Answers you already gave are filled in for you, so you do not type them twice.

  3. We fill in the agency's form. You read it and sign.

Some agencies only take their own website or paper form. Front Door fills it in from your answers and shows you every box. Nothing is sent until you approve.

  4. Agency letters become tasks with due dates

Agencies can write to your Front Door inbox, and you can add a photo of a paper letter. Each request becomes a task with its due date, so nothing is missed.

  5. Your vault: your saved answers and documents

Sensitive numbers, like your Social Security number, are locked and shown with most digits hidden. Only you and the agency you choose can see them. You can see every time your vault was used.

Who sees what, in plain words

Four ways an application reaches the agency

Each program page says which way it uses. You read and sign before anything is sent.

  • Sent directly

Front Door sends your application straight to the agency.

  • Filled on the agency's website

Front Door fills in the agency's own online form from your answers. You read it and sign before it is sent.

  • Filled on the agency's paper form

Front Door fills in the agency's own paper form from your answers. You read it, sign it, and send it by upload, fax, or mail.

  • Finish with the agency

You finish on the agency's website, by phone, or in person. Front Door gathers your answers and documents so it goes faster.

Safety rules we build in

  • Your sensitive numbers stay hidden. Front Door works with placeholders. The real number is filled in only at the last step, inside the agency's form, and every use is logged.
  • You sign. Nothing is submitted until you approve it. No setting can skip that step.
  • No tricks with agency websites. If a site asks you to prove you are a person, Front Door stops and hands it to you.
  • Agencies see only what you share. Each program gets only its own questions, and we keep a record of what you agreed to share.
